A long overdue W!

Kia ora koutou. We hope you and your whanau are keeping well. Nga mihi o Matariki, te tau hou Maori.

It was a terrific day for the club on Saturday with 3 top wins. The Woodridge Homes Premier's avenged a 4 year drought against the Wellington Axemen by taking them down late to win their Hardham Cup opener 27-13. It wasn't that long ago we ventured to Hataitai for their Old Timer's Day of which our slow start cost us dearly. The most painful part of that day was hearing the 'Axe' song bellow throughout their clubrooms after their win. As for this occasion, that didn't eventuate courtesy of a great win. Well done boys after some real graft in recent weeks!

Our Superloans Cripples took on Para-Plim at home and came away with a comprehensive victory 33-9. The game was somewhat marred by a small stoush which resulted in one of our players getting a red card. Otherwise onwards and upwards for the boys as they continue to position for their HD Morgan Memorial quarter finals in 3 weeks time.

Our U85's had their work cut out vs top-liners Eastbourne in the late game at Helston. In a tightly contested battle, our boys came out on top 13-12 which turned around an earlier defeat to the same side away from home in the first round. A tough venture out to Upper Hutt on Saturday won't be easy but a bonus point would just about secure a home semi-final. Plenty to play for!

This Week's Games

Some big games this weekend for the club. The Woodridge Homes Premier's take on the Upper Hutt Rams out at their place in a Hardham Cup quarterfinal. The Swindale Shield match saw us go down just out there where we felt we should have got the job done. Do or die rugby now!

Our Superloans Premier Reserve Cripples take on Avalon at Fraser Park in a game our boys will be expecting a good result in. The U85's take on Upper Hutt at Maoribank where they will be seeking at least a point to position themselves nicely heading into finals week.

Here is a road map below of the Hardham Cup format from here on in. Let's hope one win leads to two....

Although our Pressie's have finished their competition for the year, they are hosting 3 sides by the looks up at Helston this Saturday with our other teams away from home. It will be great to see some activity up at the club! The AB's test will be showing on the big screen later on also.

What's On at the Club?

A reminder that our Premier's are hosting a fundraiser down at 1841 Bar & Restaurant with the support of Jono and the team this Sunday. There are still some tickets available so get involved if you can!

The date for our Prizegiving has now been confirmed which is Saturday 14 August from 6pm. More details will follow and we will be looking forward to a massive night up at the club. The theme for the night is 'Around the World' where our teams will choose a country and go from there.

Opportunity - Game Development Officer

As we continue to try and drive our rugby offering at the club, we are calling anyone that might be interested in becoming our Game Development Officer which is really exciting opportunity. More details are below:

Although club focused, this role requires being a key conduit with the WRFU and clubs in our area.
