Hawk's Newsletter #12 - BLUE OUT DAY for Jubilee Cup Semi!

Results for last weekend's matches

Premier Reserves vs Norths

No report from the team as they remain focused on the HD Morgan Memorial Cup. They don't mind a team shot though (see below) after their 34-17 win in their elimination playoff. All jokes aside, the lads have really hit their straps in time this season. After 7 matches, the boys hadn't had a win and were on average losing by 28. Dial forward the next 8 matches and this has yielded 5 wins and across all matches achieving an average winning margin of 4 points. Keep up the mahi lads!

Mighty Cripples vs Petone Brotherhood

The Cripples finally got back on the park after 3 weeks of waiting to play an opposition. Well, we played a massive Petone team with massive numbers that came to play, it was a tough old game. We dominated line outs and out wide, they dominated up the middle with their size. We did get on top early getting out to a 17 nil lead but they came back at us. 12 unanswered points. After scoring another 8 points we were looking good but as the game wore on they scored again, but too little too late for them, a good solid win 25 to 19 for us. One more round robin game then playoffs, we will finish 2nd. Good for home games but disappointing as we were nearly good enough to be 1st. Back to mahi Wednesday, OBU next weekend. Up the Cripples!

Past, present and future Cripples.

Pressies vs Stokes Valley

Pressies had a hard game against Stokes Valley this weekend and at times frustrating. Unfortunately we went down 10-5 in sometimes wet conditions but had a very good turn out. Thanks to my guys for turning up to play every week and to the supporters who come in each week to cheer the guys on.

Our Pressies and the Stokes lads.

There was no game for the Terrahawk's U85's on Saturday, however, it was great to see many of them come in for a meal, thanks for the pies & bread, Mason & Corey.

Draw for this week

Time to get pumped, go to your wardrobe and find what you can in blue! Semi-final rugby is here. A massive battle of the birds with our Hawk's taking on the Magpies from Rongotai in both the Jubilee Cup and HD Morgan Memorial Cup. Some good games around the traps for all also!

The message is quite clear below.......come from all parts to and get behind our Hawks! Raffles will be in play and limited merchandise available!

Poll for this week

A massive Jubilee Cup semi-final ahead of us, so who gets the chocolates for a trip to the Hutt Rec on finals day!?

  • Hawk's

  • Magpie's

Other Notices

QUIZ NIGHT HAS BEEN POSTPONED UNTIL A LATER DATE. Watch this space.

FOODBANK

This Saturday we are asking for team donations of goods which we will donate to Newlands foodbank. Anyone out there that would like to contribute is most welcome to do so, there will be a box by the food table to drop donations into, they are also short on toiletries & female products, anything we can donate will help families out a little more over winter.

Representative rugby

Congratulations to Ha'amea Ahio & Anthony Pettett on their selection to play in the Lions side for the Ranfurly Shield earlier today. The Lions ran out convincing victors as expected and our boys got some good minutes. A cheeky grass-cutter legs tackle just before the break had a few of us breathing hard when Ha'ams was tackled but fingers crossed he pulls through for Saturday fine!

Congratulations also to Lucas Aukuso and Andy Ellis on their selection in the Wellington Maori team, all the best for your games too.

Well, semi finals week has come, we are expecting to see some great rugby from our Prem's against Ories on Saturday. Everyone put your blue clothes on, dye your hair blue, this has been years coming, our team have done us proud, we are hoping for a huge spectator turn out on Saturday to show the players how proud we are. Good luck Hawks or as Noff says up the Hawks!

Have a great weekend everyone, lots on in the city to celebrate Matariki so plenty to see and do Friday with whanau, then there's Saturday...

As we continue to work through our ground lease renewal and licensing, it is important to reinforce some of these messages. Go well this long weekend.

Cheers

Cherie, Trina & Blair
