Hawk's Newsletter #14 - Mixed results for our sides on a wet weekend!

Results for last weekend's matches

Mighty Cripples vs Poneke Ruffnuts (John Davies Cup)

Another windy shitty wet day, at Kilbirnie park. Us 19 VS 27 Ruffnuts. Not the ideal conditions for our team, though we had good numbers. We lost our inspirational captain Eel early to a season ending ankle injury.

Ruffnuts used the wind well and half time we were down 17 nil. With the wind we took a while to use that advantage. When we did we scored 3 tries. then they rumbled one into the wind. 10 mins to go we were in there 19 to 22. But we left it too late, they rumbled over to end the game 27 to 19.

I’m happy with the effort and heart and the not give up attitude from the boys. Today we say goodbye for the season to 3 boys, 2 greenhorns Josh and Lucia. Also our King Kua Palakua who is truly the heart and soul of our team, he leads, teaches, encourages his team mates every Wednesday & Saturday, a true legend.

For the boys we are back to mahi Wednesday. Regroup & play Saturday at home, a knockout game. Do or Die. Up the Cripple!

TERRAHAWKS 85s vs EASTBOURNE SEAGULLS

The Terrahawks scored a good win over a depleted Eastbourne team 53-nil boosting the for and against points difference in the process scoring 9 tries to none on a wet Helston Park on Saturday.

Try scorers were; 2x Seamus 'Taumalolo' Rowberry Kyle 'Free dive champ' Cummings

Fereti 'The Speed' Brown

'Big bad' Brad Price

Pene 'MMT' Tuiketei

Te Rangihaeata 'No undie run' Akuhata

Rawiri 'Rasta' Atkins and

Rhion 'Rangatira' Rowberry.

Rhion kicked 3 conversions with the bro Seamus adding 1.

The Roosters Decorators man of the match went to Seamus Rowberry, special mention to Pat Foley, Tegan Sipili and Levi Laird-Mahu close behind. A big thanks to Eastbourne for showing up in tough conditions. Next game for our bird gang is against the Small Axes of Wellington at Haitaitai Park at 1pm - hopefully the lads can give 'em some of their own axe!

The Terrahawks would like to thank the following sponsors for their help in 2023:

Pressies vs HOBM

This week the pressies had to play in ugly wet conditions and freezing cold temperatures to go down 10 - 5 to a very big HOBM team. With stunning tries to Nigel, Jamie and Paul. Thanks to everyone who showed up to play, and to the supporters who turned up as well. This week we are at Stokes Valley for Pressies Day.

The Pressie's lads sharing another great shot.

Draw for this week

The draw looks a tad lighter this time of year, however, some big games for our Cripples in their elimination play off at home and also the Terrahawk's 85's well into their second round. The Pressie's will enjoy a quality day out in Stokes.

The combined Newlands and Onslow First XV take on Paraparaumu College in its last round robin match for Premier 2 with a 2.30pm kick off at Newlands College. It has proved to be a tough one for the young lads but they should be proud of qualifying for this grade.

This week's poll

The Cripples take on the Pirates on Saturday in elimination finals rugby, what is the margin?

  • Cripples 13+

  • Cripples 1-12

  • Anything else - yeah nah, we really don't want to know
