Merry Christmas from the JRFC

To our Johnsonville Rugby Family,

As 2019 comes to it's conclusion, we wanted to reach out to you, our members, supporters and sponsors to wish you a Meri Kirihimete and Happy New Year. You are an integral part to our existence in the community and we thank you for this.

A challenging 2019 in many regards for the club, however, we again showed some incredible resilience to come through the year and learn further as we turn the page into the next decade of rugby for the club. It was an incredible achievement to launch our inaugural rugby academy this year and we are confident it will be bigger and better next year.

We must continue to adapt our club offering, as rugby as our national sport faces increased competition of other sports. Our club will continue to strive to change with the times and become further diverse where it needs to. You are a critical part to this journey as we enter 2020, our 120th year in existence!

On behalf of the Johnsonville Rugby Football Club Committee, we thank you all. Travel well, and travel safe.

Cheers Blair Hannah

First Year for Rugby Academy Complete!

And it’s a wrap!!! The first instalment of the Johnsonville Rugby Club Academy has finished up for the year. It will be back in the new year but at a reduced capacity. Pre-season kicks off on the 7th January so the Academy members will revert to those training's.

The first instalment of the Academy has been a very successful outing and something that will be staying at the Club for many years to come. Some key milestones of the Academy:

- Training's on rugby skills, fitness and strength two times a week

- Body and functional movement testing from Te Aro Physiotherapy

- Goal setting and life planning initiatives

- Nutritional work shop from Oni

- Part time work/Jobs for Academy members

- Strength training at Johnsonville CityFitness

The Academy wouldn’t have been a success with the amazing effort from some key people within the Club. Big shout out to our Academy Liaison Officer – Joe Gates. Joe as many people know puts his heart and soul into the Club. Sophie Gates much like Joe does so much for the Club. Our Rugby Club GDO Hiko Davies did a great job training these young players. Huge thanks to many others – Mo Mackey, Anaru Atkins, Phil White, Mone Vitale, Wes Klopper, Sam Butturini, Jason Cheng, Laurent from Oni Fitness, CityFitness.

Well done team and thank you.

Pre-season on the doorstep.....

Pre-season training kicks off at 6pm, Tuesday 7 January at Helston Park. Rally the troops and let's get some great numbers in the New Year. It will be an exciting and coordinated programme run as we build to a Spotswood pre-season trip to the Naki' (7 March) and our first Swindale Shield match against Paremata-Plimmerton, away on 21 March.
