UPDATE - Operating at the JRFC under the Covid-19 Protection Framework

Updated: Feb 2

From 24 January 2022 the country transitioned into the 'RED' light setting with the threat of Omicron and to ideally 'stamp it out' in the first of 3 phases.

What does this mean for us and those operating out of the club?

We will be taking all reasonable and practical steps to ensure we operate appropriately and ensure the club remains a safe place for our members and those visiting.

We will operate with vaccine passes as much as possible which will allow greater flexibility at the club in terms of use of functions and gatherings. We will be taking the approach of sighting and verifying vaccine passes (VP's) depending on the checker / nature of the gathering. So in summary:

  • Please continue to scan in using your Covid-19 Tracer App (there are plenty of QR codes!!)

  • Continue to use a face covering where appropriate

  • Maintain good hand hygiene

  • Stay home if you are unwell. If you carry any Covid symptoms such as a sore throat / runny nose, we encourage you to get a test and isolate until this comes back negative

  • Organised training sessions (inside and outside) - as pre-season has kicked off and numbers are growing managers / coordinators will coordinate sighting VP's which will allow us up to 100 people to attend - a safe register will be maintained for our records. If not, these should be limited to 25 people with social distancing where appropriate

  • Touch rugby (outside) - as above

  • Organised gym sessions (in greenroom) - e.g. Boxfit, etc. A coordinator needs to ensure VP's are sighted on arrival

  • Use of clubrooms - organisers will coordinate sighting of VP's where a gathering or meeting might exceed 25 people, otherwise a limit of 25 people with social distancing

  • Use of clubrooms (with an organised function) - we will be ensuring VP's are sighted by organisers or security upon arrival to allow us to hold 100 people per the red light settings.

Please note, specific guidance has been shared by team management regarding the use of masks, scanning in, drink bottles and cleaning of equipment with playing groups.

We understand this is an uncertain time, however, it is clear this is not a lockdown and we will operate to the conditions and in a safe manner.

If anyone associated with the club is forced to isolate as they either have Covid or are a close contact, please ensure these isolation periods are respected. We will be more than happy to support getting groceries or other essentials dropped to you in need.

If you have any questions or feedback, please do not hesitate to contact us at enquiries@jrfc.co.nz.

From 3 December 2021 we transition into the Covid-19 Protection Framework. The Wellington region will go into the 'ORANGE' light settings.

What does this mean for us and those operating out of the club?

We will be taking all reasonable and practical steps as much as possible to ensure we operate appropriately and ensure the club remains a safe place for our members and those visiting.

We intend to operate with vaccine passes as much as possible which will allow greater flexibility at the club in terms of use of functions and gatherings. We will be taking the approach of sighting vaccine passes (VP's) rather than ensuring compliance with the verifier app which may be quite cumbersome. So in summary:

  • Please continue to scan in using your Covid-19 Tracer App

  • Continue to use a face covering where you feel appropriate

  • Stay home if you are unwell

  • Organised training sessions (inside and outside) - where managers / coordinators can coordinate sighting VP's then no restrictions on size of training sessions. If not, these should be limited to 50 people with sufficient distancing where appropriate

  • Touch rugby (outside) - as above. There will only ever be two matches of touch rugby taking place at any one time (approx 40-50 people max)

  • Organised gym sessions (in greenroom) - e.g. Boxfit, etc. A coordinator needs to ensure VP's are sighted on arrival

  • Use of clubrooms - where organisers can coordinate sighting of VP's there are no restrictions, otherwise a limit of 50 people with sufficient social distancing

  • Use of clubrooms (with an organised function) - we will be ensuring VP's are sighted by organisers or security upon arrival to allow us to maximise numbers and space.

Please find a link below to more details on how sport and recreation will operate under each settings of which we will be ensuring we follow as much as possible:
