This Saturday, we celebrate a massive milestone for our very own Pakistani prince of the front row — Sami Raja!

From the humble halls of Onslow College to becoming a certified Johnsonville scrum weapon, Raja has transformed before our eyes — not just in size (thanks to all those gym gains), but in heart, hustle, and humour.

Often underestimated, but never outworked — the Raja Show-and-Go™ has become a Jville classic. You haven’t truly experienced a Hawks game unless you’ve witnessed his sneaky step and trademark grin.

Always turning up to training with a smile (and sometimes questionable banter), Raja embodies the spirit of the Hawks: humble, hardworking, and hilariously unpredictable.

Congratulations on 50 games, Sami!

Your Hawks whānau are proud of you — and we’re right behind you for the next 50!

We bid a heartfelt sayonara to Ken Kurihara  as he returns to Japan to continue pursuing his career in 7s rugby. Ken has been an integral part of the Johnsonville Hawks Premier Team, and his presence will be deeply missed.

Known for his unwavering preparation and strong work ethic, Ken consistently demonstrated professionalism both on and off the field. His dedication and discipline were evident in everything he did, and he served as an inspiration to those around him.

The entire Hawks whānau extends our sincere gratitude and best wishes to Ken. We hope your time in Wellington and New Zealand has been a memorable and rewarding chapter in your journey.

“出る杭は打たれない – The stake that sticks out doesn’t get hammered down.”

(Be bold and stand tall – your uniqueness is your strength.)

All the best in Japan, Ken — your Hawks whānau will always be cheering you on.
