200 Games for a Wellington Club Rugby Legend – Ha'amea 'Ahio
This Saturday on Old Timers Day, we celebrate an incredible milestone as Ha'amea 'Ahio runs out for his 200th club rugby game against Pōneke Rugby Club.
Having played 150 of those games for the mighty Johnsonville Hawks, Haams has also had successful stints with Marist St Pat's Rugby Club and Oriental-Rongotai Rugby Football Club, making him one of the most experienced and respected club rugby players in Wellington.
As we mentioned earlier this year when he brought up his 150th game for Johnsonville, Haams is the definition of a club man hard-working, committed, and someone who leads by example both on and off the field. His dedication, toughness, and loyalty to the game have earned the respect of teammates, opponents, coaches, and supporters alike.
To reach 200 club games is a remarkable achievement and a testament to years of sacrifice, consistency, and passion for rugby. Milestones like this don't come around often, and it's fitting that it happens on the mighty Old Timers Day, surrounded by the people and club community that have been part of the journey.
The entire Hawks whānau are incredibly proud of you, Haams. Thank you for everything you have given to the game, the club, and the generations of players who have followed in your footsteps.
And while there have been plenty of highlights over the years, one thing has remained the same Haams' famous show and go. After 200 games, defenders should know it's coming by now... but maybe this Saturday it'll finally work!
Congratulations on 200 games, legend. Here's to another big performance this Saturday.
Up the Hawks!
