Barry (Rangi) Welch

On behalf of the Johnsonville Rugby Club, it is with great sadness that we acknowledge the passing of Barry George Walsh, also known as Rangi Welch.

Rangi played for Johnsonville for a number of years, as did his father, Tangi. His final season was in 1970, when the team won the National Mutual Cup, the Senior Third Division Championship, and the Senior Second Division Promotion/Relegation Series.

He treasured an old Johnsonville RFC jersey that was already well worn when he proudly wore it while watching his son’s PPlim games. That jersey will accompany him on his final journey.

Our thoughts and prayers are with his whānau and loved ones at this difficult time.
